Here’s some layouts and model sheets from “Three Little Pups”. This cartoon marks the first appearance of the southern accented wolf voiced by Daws Butler. There’s also some great backgrounds in this cartoon by Vera Ohman, who would later paint backgrounds at Hanna-Barbera under her married name Vera Hanson. (Thanks to John K. for informing me of this.)

3 Little Pups was one of the first Avery films I've seen and it's always stuck ni my head. It's a hilarious take on the old story and Avery certainly made it funnier! Great post!
I dunno. I've just spent my weekend drawing my way through “Tex Avery's Droopy The Complete Theatrical Collection” DVD set and this cartoon feels kind of beginning of the end. It has little of Avery's wild takes and a lot more pans across stills and obviously limited animation compared to his previous Droopy cartoon. The characters have been redesigned and simplified too. Even the 'laughs' were cheaper. This one cartoon has more blackface gags than all the earlier Droopys put together as if they were trying to appeal to a baser audience.
So. This cartoon makes me sad. I feel like it marks the end of the golden age.
