Animaland – "The House-Cat"

10 Jan

I’m still on a bit on an Animaland kick, so here’s another cartoon from the series. “The House-Cat” was released in 1949 and like the rest of the series features some fantastic animation. Bob Egby was kind enough to leave in a link to a great article that he wrote of his time as the messenger at G-B Animation. It’s a great read if your interested in the background behind these cartoons.

A little cutesy for my liking, but the animation and design look great. I am confused how those cats had kittens so fast. I think they skipped some steps.

Yeah, the cute factor is turned up a little too high on these and the stories could use some work. My fascination with them is the animation, design, backgrounds and those really great Henry Reed scores.

Is this the same Ralph Wright who wrote “Donald’s Crime”?

<>Is this the same Ralph Wright who wrote “Donald’s Crime”?<>I hadn’t even noticed the writing credit. But yes it is the same Ralph Wright. Wright worked at G-B animation as a story supervisor from 1946-50. He then returned to Disney.
