This is the second Pete Hothead cartoon that UPA made. It was directed by Ted Parmelee and designed by Parmelee and Sam Clayberger.

Bizarre. Backus doesn't get a voice credit.

Yowp knows I've already asked at his blog but do you have any Top Cat model sheets?
(LOL, I'm sorry if I only comment if I'm asking for a model sheet. This blog is really helpful, though. :))

I like calling it street justice that Jerry Hausner gets credit here instead. He was always playing Waldo and other incidental characters in the Mr. Magoo shorts, but here he gets to voice a character in his own cartoon (albeit, only two made). I don't know why UPA wouldn't credit all the voice actors on these besides the one or two times Marvin Miller narrates or Backus getting his Magoo's Voice credit in many.

Reminded of how Cartoon Network use to had these on their site many years ago!

@Chris, I wish they would at least put those back up on the Boomerang site or something. I haven't seen a lot of the old MGM ones reprinted in books. It would be nice to see hi-res scans of them though, instead of the small ones they used to have.

I guess it's Marian Richman [who either took her own life or was murdered as she died in 1956] who does the female voices. And there is a flip around–Jim Backus not credited for his work but for once Jerry Hausner is. Dennis Farnon's doing the music, a very reassuring credit, given his work with Jay Ward cartoons and the younger and successful in his own right brother of Bob Farnon. Excelelnt cues…A handful of these later showed up beginning in the 60s to 1970s? in some libraries, KPM especially. He also composed a cue Ideal Toys used for Rebound that Ren and Stimy used, titled Bring on the girls.

Pete Hothead: “We don't HAVE a starter!” LOL. I remember when cars, trucks and buses then really did…used to ride a Chevy APache school bus in the 60s and it had a silver-steel Slinky floor starter.

Plus there were those “cranky” ways the first generations of cars started..and there wasn't power steering, auto trans, either.

Marvin Miller from other UPA cartoons was credited a LOT. Their answer to Mel Blanc..:)
